Who Qualifies for French Citizenship?
You may qualify for French citizenship if you are a child or grandchild of a French national, were born in France, or have legally resided in France for at least five years. French citizenship by descent is available to individuals with at least one French parent regardless of where they were born, and in some cases extends to grandchildren depending on the circumstances of registration. Individuals who have served in the French military or made an exceptional contribution to France may also qualify through a simplified process. There are no restrictions based on nationality, and the application can be initiated through the French consulate in your country of residence.
